I, like you, care truly about Sarasota county. I’ve called Sarasota my home for the past twenty years. I began my career in the copier and office equipment business in 1999 for IKON/Ricoh and to this day I am working in the same industry at Sharp Electronics. I am a graduate of Eckerd College with High Honors in American Studies and was invited to be a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society – which was founded December 5, 1776, and is considered to be the nation’s most prestigious academic honor society.
In 2014, I was elected as President of Myakka Valley Ranches Homeowners Association and re-elected in 2016. By developing a strategy to unite our Board of eleven Directors and our 280 homeowner members, we have improved our community with a remodeled entrance, worked to bring in a cell tower to ensure communication to first responders during emergencies, drafted a comprehensive saddle trail plan to manage our 20+ miles of horseback riding trails, a wrote a multi-year road plan to repave our 12+ miles of private roads without the need for any assessments to homeowners, and we are in the process of updating our DSL Internet by bringing in Fiber Optic High Speed Internet. I am proud to say that we have a united Board and a community of members who are extremely satisfied with all of our initiatives and their execution.
Over the last several years, I have conducted very successful private mediations for a number of clients, and more recently, volunteered to conduct Sarasota and Manatee County court appointed mediations as well. I have successfully minimized or eliminated potential lawsuits and resolved lawsuits that have been lingering on for many years. Mediation is not about who wins or loses, it’s about assisting parties in a dispute to arrive at a mutually beneficial resolution, rather than having to go to court and have a judge decide who wins and who loses. I believe in the philosophy of having patience and faith in the parties that I mediate for, and that philosophy has helped me attain a very high resolution rate in the mediations I have performed over the years.
We need leadership with strategic aforethought. We need growth for Sarasota to thrive, but at the same time we need existing companies and new business start-ups to choose Sarasota as the place for them to grow – thus keeping long-term, higher paying jobs for our people rather than non-sustainable jobs that leave when a particular project is completed.
I received numerous calls from my neighbors, colleagues and friends asking me to run for the Sarasota County Commission. The people of Sarasota are tired of “business as usual” and quite honestly, so am I.
If elected your Sarasota County Commissioner, I will work to employ responsible growth, with careful attention to its impact on traffic, education, law enforcement, and first responders in areas identified for development. I will also foster awareness and communication to the people, so that they are properly informed as to where their tax dollars are going. This is the least we can expect from the elected officials who we choose to represent us. Let me be the voice of the citizens of Sarasota. Together, let’s be transparent, let’s be accountable, let’s be responsible, but most importantly, Let’s Be Frank.
